Chakraborti Receives Fulbright Award (October 2007)

Dr. Subhabrata Chakraborti visited the University Pretoria for five months in 2004 as a senior Fulbright teaching/research scholar sponsored by the U.S. government. The relationship has matured since then. In a summary of the University of Pretoria's actions with Dr. Chakraborti, Prof. Chris Smit (from the Department of Statistics, Univ. of Pretoria) stated his contentment with the interactions between the institution and the international guest. “I think he recognized the fact that we had very good potential among our post graduate students and he was prepared to invest much time in their development.  This resulted in a number of success stories, as witnessed by some of the staff members and students in our Department,” said Prof Smit. Both Schalk Human and Marien Graham have since visited The University of Alabama and collaborated on a research project with Dr. Chakraborti (see Students enriched by world renowned academic).
