Honors, Achievements and Affiliations:
Professor Mason is past president of the American Marketing Association as well as the Southern and Southwestern Marketing Associations, and a Fellow of the Southern and Southwestern Associations and the Academy of Marketing Science. A Beta Gamma Sigma national scholar, he has received the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education, the Western Electric Award for innovation in undergraduate business education and the Academy of Marketing Science Outstanding Educator of the Year award. He was honored with the creation of the American Marketing Association Mason/Spiro/Gordon Award, designed to recognize outstanding service in the marketing profession, and is a recipient of the Wayne Lemburg Award for distinguished contributions to the AMA. Mason also has received the National Alumni Association Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award, the John F. Burnum Distinguished Faculty Award and the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award. Dr. Mason is the author or co-author of eight college texts, plus multiple editions, including Modern Retailing: Theory and Practice and Marketing Management; author or co-author of 10 research monographs and 100 published refereed journal articles in publications such as the Harvard Business Review, the University of Chicago's Journal of Business, Journal of Marketing and Journal of Marketing Research.
