- Dr. Zumpano has research interests in such areas as the residential mortgage market, real estate finance and investment analysis, and the competitive status and performance of the real estate brokerage market. He published more than 40 articles in such journals as The Journal of Financial Research, Real Estate Economics, The Journal of Real Estate Research, Real Estate Law Journal, Appraisal Journal, and Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. Dr. Zumpano was listed among the top 10 percent of real estate authors publishing in the three leading academic real estate journals in the Journal of Real Estate Research in 1993. He has twice been awarded the Excellence Fund Teaching Award. Dr. Zumpano was instrumental in the establishment of the Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center at the University in 1996. Under his direction the Real Estate Center has produced six major research reports and published three textbooks, which are currently being used in professional real estate courses.
