Honors, Achievements and Affiliations:

Dr. Ferguson came to the University of Alabama in July, 1975. He served as the director of the Center for Business and Economic Research from 1977 to 1988 and was president of the national Association for University Business and Economic Research in 1987-88.

He was instrumental in developing a model of the Alabama economy and in establishing the Center's role as the leading source for data analysis and information on the state's economy and population. In 1999 Dr. Ferguson was appointed Associate Dean for Research and Technology and returned as Director of the Research Center.

As the Associate Dean for Research and Technology, Dr. Ferguson was responsible for directing the College's sponsored research activities and for managing C&BA's technology resources. In addition to these duties, Dr. Ferguson taught a doctoral seminar on Structural Equation Model and Theory Development.

Dr. Ferguson retired from the University of Alabama in December 2006 with 31 years of service. He continues to speak to groups on the Alabama economy and is often quoted in the media.
