Six Sigma
What is Six Sigma?
“Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects (driving towards six standard deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process -- from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service.” (iSixSigma website, 2007)
It is basically controlled by the DMAIC process:
- Define – what needs to be improved
- Measure – what you are currently doing
- Analyze – the data and develop an improvement plan
- Improve – your current process and measure success
- Control – the gains and repeat the process
