* Submitting the Doctoral Plan of Study: The Graduate School policy now requires that the Plan of Study be filed no later than the semester during which the student will complete 30 semester hours of UA and/or transfer credit toward the doctoral degree. Otherwise, a hold will be placed on future registrations.  Effective date:  Fall 2007 

Current Students

Entering 2012 Ph.D. Students

  • Scott Fitzer received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Missouri State University as well as his MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He currently works as Contract Administrator for Boeing Aerospace and Defense where he prepares proposals, communicates order changes, and ensures on time delivery. Scott has previously worked as a teaching assistant at Missouri State University as well as holding several seasonal jobs. Activities while at Missouri State University include: member of Phi Delta Theta, member of Missouri State Water Ski Team, Up Til Dawn Executive Board, and Angels Arms Junior Board.
  • Ayesha Tariq received her Masters and Bachelors of Science in Food and Nutrition from the University of The Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. She will receive her MBA from The University of Alabama in May 2012.  Ayesha is currently a Graduate Research Assistant for the Manderson Graduate School of Business. Ayesha has previous experience as Planning and Logistics Intern for Aramark- Bama Dining where she increased efficiency and improved speed of service.
  • Jessica Ogilvie received her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from The University of Alabama and will receive her Master of Science in Marketing in May. Jessica is currently a research assistant at the university. She has also previous worked as a Research Fellow assisting with research and creating proposals.  Honors while at The University of Alabama include: President’s List, Summa Cum Laude, Faculty Excellence Award in Finance, Gamma Beta Phi, Golden Key, and Culverhouse CC &BA Gladys M. Poe/ Tom Canterbury Academic Achievement Award.
  • Sevincgul Ulu received her Bachelor of Science in Business administration at Marmara University in Istanbul and will receive her Master of Business Administration in May from Tulane University. Sevingul has worked in the consumer behavior lab as a research assistant at Tulane. She has also worked on many projects with companies such as BMW, Marketing/Global Leadership Consulting Projects, InExchange, Credituyo and Fundapaz. Her previous experience includes Project Manger with Sony Europe and International Marketing Coordinator with Teknik Ltd.


Entering 2011 Ph.D. Students

  • James "Mick" Andzulis received his MS in Finance at Temple University, got his MBA in Corporate Management from Villanova University and his BS in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Mick previously worked as an independent consultant, as well as senior business consultant for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. While at The Boeing Company, Integrated Defense Systems, Mick was a Business and Planning Analyst for Army and Rotorcraft Systems and the Future Combat Systems Logistics Integrated Product Team. He also worked as MBA graduate research assistant at Villanova University and as an independent consultant for DuPont Seaford & Spruance Reengineering/Relocation projects. Mick has co-authored two published research papers and served as President of the Philadelphia Alumni Chapter of the International Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma

  • Catherine "Katy" Johnson attended Minnesota State University where she received her MBA and the University of Kentucky where she earned her BA in German. Katy was the Secretary at the University of Kentucky Alumni Association Twin cities, a National Merit Scholar Finalist and a Peer Mentor at the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Kentucky. Some of Katy’s work experience at ProGrowth Bank includes assistant branch manager and marketing coordinator, credit analyst and most recently branch manager. She was responsible for teaching a finance class at Minnesota University.

  • Tyler Morgan attends the University of Alabama where he received his Bachelor of Science in Finance and received his MBA with a strategy emphasis. He was a finance intern for West Tennessee Healthcare, and a Claims supervisor and Investigator for an eBay Motors account with Auction Insurance Agency. Tyler was also an Outdoor Recreation Trips & Rental Center Coordination and Assistant for the University of Alabama Outdoor Recreation center. Some of Tyler’s Honors and activities are receiving the Bill Bennett Award for Excellence in International Business Studies, Treasurer of the MBA class of 2011, and an officer in the Society of Global MBA”S.

Entering 2010 Ph.D. Students

  •  Kyoungmi "Kate" Kim received her MSM from the University of Alabama. She received her B.A. in Economics from Ewha Women’s University, Seoul, Korea. Some of Kate’s academic honors include: Beta Gamma Sigma, and the Dean’s List. Kate was the Recipient of the Research International Award, Ewha Scholarship, and the Scholarship of Lotte Scholarship Foundation, and she already has one publication. Kate’s teaching experience includes being a teaching assistant at Korea University Business School, an Academic Instructor to high school students and a private tutor for middle school students. Kate also was an E-learning tutor. Kate was a researcher at Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management, Seoul, Korea. Some of her other Business experience includes: a research assistant at Gallup, International, Seoul, Korea, and an intern at Hyundai Home Shopping Network.    

Entering 2009 Ph.D. Students

  • Sarah Al-houti  earned her M.B.A. in Marketing and Information Technology from The University of Illinois. She received her undergraduate degree in E-commerce Information Systems from Seattle University. Sarah’s past work experience includes sales positions in Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Global Art Venue in Seattle. She was a consultant for Illinois Business Consulting and a promotion specialist volunteer for Nu Black Arts West Theatre in Seattle. She also has experience as a marketing instructor for the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in Kuwait.

  • Colin Gabler attended Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he received his M.A. in Creative Writing. He also attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where he received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration. While studying at Lycoming College, Colin received awards such as Lycoming College Marketing Management Award for the highest GPA in the field and the Senior Management Award. Colin previously served as the associate director of the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society and as a writer for Fly Magazine.
  • William Northington attended the University of Alabama where he earned both his Master of Science in Marketing and his Bachelor of Science in Economics. William has held various positions while at The University of Alabama including lab instructor, teaching assistant, and graduate research assistant in the Department of Management and Marketing. While attending The University of Alabama, William received many awards, including the Elton B. Stephens Scholarship, the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship, and the Alabama Alumni Award. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.

Entering 2008 Ph.D. Students

  • Frank G. Adams earned his M.B.A. with a concentration in supply chain and operations management from The University of Alabama.  Frank’s undergraduate degree is from Mississippi State University.  Before returning to school for his M.B.A., Frank held management positions with PhotoMedex Inc. and Sandstone Medical Technologies.  Most recently, he worked as a graduate intern in materials management for Energen.   Frank has served in the U.S. Army Reserve in two states. 
  • Tim D. Butler received his M.S. in Marketing from The University of Alabama.  His undergraduate degree is in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York.  Tim’s past work experience includes several retail management positions in which he supervised sales and customer service personnel.   In addition to his work within the retail industry, Tim has designed and implemented marketing research plans for an engineering consulting firm. 
  • Woojung Chang comes to us with a M.S. in Marketing as well as an undergraduate degree in German and Literature from Korea University in Seoul, Korea.  Woojung has co-authored several different research papers in various conference proceedings, including the AMA Summer Marketing Educators’ Conference Proceedings and the Joint Conference on Business Administration Proceedings (in Korean).  Prior to returning to school for graduate work, Woojung worked as a junior account manager in the banking industry. 
  • Stephanie T. Gillison received her M.S. in Marketing from The University of Alabama.  She also received her undergraduate degree in Management from Alabama.  During her time at the university, Stephanie has received numerous awards and honors.  She was named a Presidential Scholar, accepted into the University Honors Program, and inducted into the Business Honors Program as well as many other honor societies.  Stephanie has worked as a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Marketing course and served as an ambassador for the Capstone Business Academy. 
  • V. Myles Landers did his graduate as well as his undergraduate work at Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia.  He has presented his research on extreme sports and sports marketing at various marketing conferences, including the National Sports Marketing Association Conference and the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators’ Conference.  Myles completed an internship for Climbing magazine in Carbondale, Colorado where he managed marketing research projects for the magazine.
  • Hyunju Shin earned her M.S. in Marketing from The University of Alabama and her undergraduate degree from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, Korea.  While an undergraduate student, Hyunju was awarded several leadership scholarships and grants.  Before starting her Master’s degree, Hyunju worked as a marketing research associate for a Korean consulting firm.  Most recently, she completed a marketing research internship for Panelpina, an international freight company. 

Entering 2007 Ph.D. Students

  • Carolyn (Casey) Findley comes to us from Auburn University – Montgomery, where she was an instructor in the marketing department. Casey received her MBA with an emphasis in marketing from Auburn University Montgomery in 2006. She has also been published as a co-author in the International Journal of Sports Marketing and Management and the Berkshire Encyclopedia of Extreme Sport. While teaching at AUM, Casey developed a new course, Sports Marketing, co-authored two articles and two proceedings, along with reviewing for Atlantic Marketing Association, Society for Marketing Advances, and the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators. 

Entering 2006 Ph.D. Students

  • Shiri D. Vivek comes to us from India with a master of arts in psychology, Jai Narain Vyas University; M.B.A., Mohanlal Sukhadia University; and even a Ph.D. in management from Gurukul Kangadi University in India. She has held several teaching positions in management at universities in India. Shiri has numerous publications throughout the USA, Europe, and Asia, including invited reports and book chapters. In 2000, her paper entitled “Teleworking: Opportunities for Indian Women” received the Swedish Council of Work Life Research Award.

Entering 2005 Ph.D. Students

  • Vivek Dalela comes to us from India where he received an M.B.A. with a marketing concentration from the University of Lucknow in 1996. He also earned an M.S. in physics from the same university. Since that time, he has held many teaching positions. He most recently served as Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Institute for Integrated Learning in Management in New Delhi. Vivek’s publications can be found in various journals including Journal of Insurance and Risk Management, Business Perspectives, and The 2003 Report on New Working Environments and Practices.

  • Mary Harrison received an M.B.A. with a marketing concentration from The University of Alabama in 2004. Her industry work experience includes serving as a Public Relations Specialist for Motion Industries. Additionally, she worked with The University of Alabama’s Small Business Development Center as a Client Counselor and Family Business Forum Coordinator.
