Teaching & Research Program

Several teaching and research programs also add to the doctoral student’s experience at The University of Alabama. We conduct a number of teaching seminars during the school year, focusing on topics of interest to the student. We also match new student teachers with faculty mentors, who then work with the students on class preparation and critique them on classroom performance. This mentor is available to the student as needed in his or her development as a teacher. Finally, we regularly bring in two to four top faculty from around the world each year to conduct research workshops and to interact with our doctoral students. These researchers have included Richard Bagozzi, University of Michigan; Frank Bass, University of Texas at Dallas; Shelby Hunt, Texas Tech; Jagdish Sheth, Emory University; Richard Lutz, University of Florida; and Richard Oliver, Vanderbilt University, to name just a few.

Guests for Spring 07 included: Roland Rust, U. of Maryland, Editor of Journal of Marketing; Rich Lutz, U. of Florida; and Sandy Jap, Emory University

Guests for Spring 08 included A. Parasuraman, U. of Miami and Editor of Journal of Service Research, Jan Heide, U. of Wisconsin and Bill Bearden, U. of South Carolina

Ask us about the Southeastern Marketing Symposium, Feb. 4-5, 2009-- if you are interested in learning more about our program and other programs (Miss.
