Departmental Financial Support
All students accepted will receive support through departmental assistantships for up to four years. The awards currently are $14,000 for 9 months with a full tuition grant for a full-time (.5 FTE award) student. The awards involve nine-month assignments as either a teaching and/or research assistant.. The program currently in place provides for full funding for up to four years (contingent on yearly renewal based on satisfactory performance). Students are expected to spend two years as a research assistant and two years as a teaching assistant. All students are expected to develop basic proficiencies as both teachers and researchers during the program. Most students will be asked to teach one summer class at $2,500--assuming the class reaches a basic enrollment level. Limited additional summer teaching assignments (beyond one class) may also be available at $2,500 per class.
Additional fellowships are offered through the College on a competitive basis. These fellowships are $9,000 and are used to supplement the above mentioned fellowships and assistantships. Thus, a typical package will be $25,500 ($14,000 + $9,000 + $2,500 ). This amount is in addition to full coverage of tuition and health care insurance coverage (information on this is available on Graduate School website.) In order to be eligible for these fellowships a student's English skills must be strong (foreign students will need to pass a teaching proficiency exam first) and all candidates must have a GMAT/GRE score in excess of 650/1300.
Students who are accepted into our program are automatically considered for eligibility for fellowships and assistantships. The student need not apply separately for these awards. Students admitted to our program will be offered full departmental support as part of their packages.
