Student Organizations

The MIS program at the University of Alabama is unlike any other! The mentoring and dedication to achievement that are evident within this program make us a more than a team; we are a family. When assistance is needed by any student, whether it be school or work related, there are organizations that are designed to assist those students. From there, students work together to solve problems. and can depend on one another for guidance and advice when difficulties do arise.

Three Organizations exist for assisting MIS students throughout the program, AIMS, CMISS, and WIT.

AIMS works throughout the year to provide a better understanding of the growing number of opportunities in the information technology industry. By working closely with firms, we are committed to integrating our academic experience with real-world industry knowledge and practices. Each year over 30 companies come to campus to conduct presentations. The MIS professionals speak to students about career development, their companies, and industry trends. These professionals recruit our MIS students for internships, part-time jobs, and full-time positions. We hope you can become a part of our team!

CMISS is a student organization built upon the goal of increasing diversity in information systems and increasing the overall academic and social well being of all our members through our mentoring programs. Diversity brings different people together, with different ideas, and increases the capacity of knowledge. As we continue to grow and move forward, we will need to continue to realize this as a key area of opportunity and work hard to make this a reality. Join Us!

Women in Information Technology

Women in IT is a student organization aimed at motivating, inspiring, and supporting women in information technology related fields. While this organization is focused on women, anyone is welcome to join. WIT members participate in monthly meetings and activities focused on professional development, outreach, community service, team building, and social skills. Started in the Fall of 2005, this organization is still setting its foundation and growing rapidly towards its goals.
