Faculty Mentors

It is understood that your college years are about far more than books and papers. The MIS program at The University of Alabama provides many opportunities for you to get involved with your education, and reach far beyond the confines of a classroom.

The University of Alabama not only has exceptional students, but also an outstanding staff in the MIS department. Not only are they concerned about your progress as a student, but more importantly about your progress as a well-rounded person. They care about you as an individual and will help you to the best of their ability. We are proud of our faculty here, and we invite you to meet them!

Through opportunities such as participation in the Faculty Scholars Program, part-time employment in the Enterprise Integration Lab, and volunteering for the Computing Olympiads, you have the chance to teach and to be taught in all areas of your life.

Here's what one of our recent students has to say:

“When coming to college, I didn't expect to have much interaction with my professors. On the other hand, I have more interaction with the MIS faculty than I did with my high school teachers. That's something that I didn't expect in college.

Dr. Joanne Hale has truly helped chart my career path. She is not only my mentor, but she also advises me on the classes I need to take to graduate on time, and the career path I need to follow to a successful MIS professional. Getting to know my professors on a personal level allows me to become more comfortable in the program environment. I have received great exposure from the recruiters that come on campus for meetings with the faculty.

Although we work hard, we play hard. We often have lunch to learn what is going on in each other's lives outside of the MIS program. Without her mentorship, I would not have the success in school that I have today.”
