The University of Alabama has been awarded a grant by the National Science Foundation to integrate research results into the software engineering curriculum at The University of Alabama. This curriculum is targeted toward students in three disciplines: computer science, computer engineering and management Information Systems. Our research content is drawn from the related areas commonly known as software component engineering and software architecture.

Our software engineering curriculum involves two parts: (1) a sequence of fundamentals courses and (2) a year-long capstone project course sequence. The fundamentals courses will present concepts from the research areas discussed above, while the project course sequence involves interdisciplinary teams of students developing a realistic industrial product while applying the novel concepts learned within the fundamentals courses.

The period of performance for this grant is August 1997 through August 2000. The project director for this project is Allen Parrish, in cooperation with a team of co-PIs from computer science, computer engineering and management information systems.
