MIS Forum

A strong network is a crucial element of any great career.  In the Management Information Systems program at The University of Alabama, students are provided with a unique opportunity to jump-start their network.  Every semester two dozen CIOs, Partners, VPs, and other I.T. leaders from around the world meet on campus at The University of Alabama with the sole purpose of immersing themselves in the MIS undergraduate and Enterprise Consulting graduate programs, evaluating both, and providing feedback on the overall direction and level of success in the execution of each program.

During the MIS Forum, students spend time networking with the group of executives and making contacts that often lead to internships and/or full-time employment opportunities.  Students are also given the opportunity to give a 4-5 minute presentation to the group of executives, giving a high-level description of their Capstone Experience Project and identifying the specific business value delivered to the client sponsor for the project.

“This program is innovative, forward thinking, and market responsive. I speak to faculty on a regular basis, and each time I am told of an improvement made based on industry or alumni feedback, or changes in best practices. I am so proud of this program and the role the MIS Forum plays in its success.”

In addition to hearing about projects from the students of the program, the Forum provides a great deal of feedback on the program.  This feedback is used to continually refine the program and make sure that it is setting up graduates to be successful in the I.T. environment.  By holding this type of meeting every semester, the Management Information Systems and Enterprise Consulting programs are able to quickly react and adapt to the constant change that is occurring in I.T. and business in general.

The Forum consists of over 20 Chief Information Officers, consulting partners, and other executives from some of the top companies in America:
