Enterprise Integration Laboratory

For students looking for opportunities to help offset the costs of the MBA program and get valuable experience at the same time, the Enterprise Integration Lab (EIL) offers a possible solution. Each year, the EIL hires over 20 graduate and undergraduate students to fill assistantships and part-time work-study positions. Employees of the EIL work with outside clients on projects managed by MIS faculty. Interested Enterprise Consulting students have the opportunity to apply for a position at the beginning of the second year of the program.

The EIL was founded by the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration to aid business organizations in seamlessly integrating business activities using information technology. Confronted with global market demands and evolving information technologies, the EIL's mission is to develop business best practices for sharing, managing, controlling, and coordinating business data, work practices, and networks. To accomplish this goal, the EIL performs:

  • basic research to expand the fundamental knowledge related to developing complex management information systems.
  • applied research to examine how to align theoretical concepts with constraints of the real world.
  • business outreach to aid business in applying accepted best practices.
  • educational activities to transfer best practices using state of the art techniques and methods.
