Real EducationThe Enterprise Consulting concentration is based on experiential learning. During your second year as an EC student, you’ll gain valuable experience managing actual projects, not just learning about project management in the classroom.

In any given week, you may find yourself:

· Leading a status meeting with your project client

· Facilitating a collaborative brainstorming session

· Pitching your project to business executives

· Running group work sessions

· Encouraging and supporting the professional growth of your team members

Curriculum

The MBA/MS program in Enterprise Consulting requires a total of 75 semester hours, 9 of which are earned during Interim and the summer internship, and 6 of which count as White Paper research the summer after your second year. You do not need to be on campus either summer.

Internship

Between your 1st and 2nd years of the program, you’ll have a summer internship. In the EC program, the difference is that you will have the guidance and support of a faculty mentor throughout the summer. You’ll be in touch with your faculty mentor every week, planning your project for the summer, working through problems, and identifying ways to exceed expectations while on the job.

You’ll have 3 round-table sessions with your colleagues and faculty, hosted by companies where MIS students are interning. You’ll talk with company executives and get an inside look at their businesses from an IS perspective. It’s also a time to share your summer with your colleagues and meet alumni in the area you’re visiting.

My internship at CGI was a great experience. The projects I was involved with provided real value to the entire company, and I was able to work with leading-edge technologies that are changing how organizations communicate.

Brett Coburn ’09

Your summer internship experience will get you better prepared for your role as a project manager. It’s also a way to build the professional network that will drive the rest of your career.
