What are AIMS
Meetings?
AIMS
works throughout the year to provide a better understanding of the growing
number of opportunities in the information technology industry.
Each year over 30 companies come to campus to conduct
presentations. The MIS professionals speak to students about career
development, their companies, and industry trends. These professionals
recruit our MIS students for internships, part-time jobs, and full-time
positions.
How to benefit from AIMS Meetings
-
Ask questions. Research the company and prepare
questions ahead of time. The representatives will usually take time to
allow us to ask them questions. This is a great opportunity to make an
impression and separate yourself from everyone else.
-
Interact. Introduce yourself to the speaker, even if you are not
interested in interning next semester. It is never too early to begin
accumulating contacts.
-
Market yourself. Make an impression by coming prepared,
professional, and with pen out ready to listen.
-
Socialize. If you are new to MIS then take this opportunity to
get to know everyone. Networking within the department is extremely
valuable.
