Student Association

As a student, you may be wondering: How does the health care system really work? What makes a successful health care executive? How can I keep up with the latest trends and issues in the field? Where are the real opportunities down the road? Making your way through the sprawling, continuously evolving world of health care management can be tough without the right guidance and support.

The Health Care Management Society (HCMS) at The University of Alabama is there to help further the students’ education by providing opportunities for networking and providing speakers and guests from throughout the healthcare industry. The society has developed four vice president offices for students interested in the various tracks of healthcare management education offered by the University. They are the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), the long term care arena, and healthcare sales.

The purpose of The University of Alabama HCMS chapter is to

  • Facilitate classroom learning in health care management field by providing speakers, seminars, workshops, etc. for the member;
  • Provide a social atmosphere for students interested in health care management; and
  • Provide a forum for students to meet and discuss issues, problems, job opportunities, etc. in the health care industry.

HCMS is open to any student currently enrolled at The University of Alabama that is interested in the healthcare industry.
