Health SouthChair in Health Care Management
The Department of Management and Marketing of the University of Alabama is pleased to announce a tenure track faculty position in Management. The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama seeks an outstanding candidate for the HealthSouth Chair in Health Care Management. The HealthSouth Chair is expected to have and maintain an internationally recognized level of research scholarship. Evidence of this scholarship should be supported by a record of significant external research funding from nationally-recognized and prominent sources. The position includes effective collaboration with other Colleges at the University of Alabama, including the College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Social Work. Chair holder should possess excellent interpersonal skill, as he/she must be able and willing to lead and work with a team of diverse scholars. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor other faculty members in developing strong programs of funded research, and will be responsible for providing leadership to the Healthcare Management program in the College.
Preferred qualifications: Additionally, leadership in collaborative research is beneficial. Research programs of particular interest include, but are not limited to: health policy research--broadly defined, health services research, quality management, human resources management in healthcare, outcomes and effectiveness research, economic evaluation of clinical interventions, cost-effectiveness analysis, or cost-benefit analysis.
Minimum qualifications: Qualified candidates should hold a PhD in business, management, health care or a similar or related field and possess an outstanding record of research in an area related to health care management. Candidates for this position must have a demonstrated ability to conduct research. The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills and have distinguished teaching and research records that warrant appointment as a tenured professor at a major research university.
The Culverhouse College of Commerce is one of the venerable business schools of the Southeast. It was recently ranked tied for twenty-nine among all public business schools by U.S. News and World Report.

Expected starting date of appointment is August 16, 2008.
Salary is competitive.
