Survey Procedures for the Collection of Student Opinions on the Effectiveness of Teaching

December 8, 1989

The survey procedures used within the College are based upon the University-wide system for the collection of student opinions which was designed to ensure maximum student participation and maximum confidentiality for the student completing the survey. The Department/School Office serves as the distribution and collection point for all surveys except for surveys of Executive MBA classes. The Office of the Manderson Graduate School of Business serves as the distribution and collection point for Executive MBA classes. The survey procedures to be used in all C&BA classes are as follows:

    1. A proper number of C&BA Questionnaires for each class will be placed in an envelope showing the course, section, and professor’s name.

    2. The envelope will be given to the student or individual (other than the course instructor) designated to administer the survey for the course in  question.

    3. The instructor will leave the classroom and remain outside while the survey forms are distributed, completed, and collected.

    4. When all forms are completed, the person administering the survey should  place the completed forms in the envelope provided, seal it, and return it to the Department/School Office. Blank forms should not be placed in the envelope but should be returned separately to the Department/School Office.

    5. When all class surveys have been completed, the Department/School Office will forward the envelopes to the Office of Testing and Data Management Services where they will be tabulated.

    6. The results and the original survey forms will be returned to the Department/School Office administering the survey. The Department Head/Director will share the results with the faculty member and with the Dean.
