The Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at The University of Alabama offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels in finance.

The undergraduate finance program offers a variety of courses which are designed to develop the student's analytical skills and abilities, and to prepare graduates for promising careers in business and government. The opportunities for students who complete a bachelor's degree in finance range from positions in banking and financial services, corporate finance, investment management, real estate, insurance enterprise risk management, consulting, and the public sector. Students working toward an undergraduate degree in finance must select either a specialization or an additional major. Popular additional majors are: mathematics, foreign languages, economics and accounting. Some students may qualify for accelerated programs that are available to outstanding students which are described on our website.

The Master of Science in Finance degree program is designed to offer advanced applied and theoretical expertise in investments, banking, corporate finance, and/or financial derivatives. Interdisciplinary courses covering asset and portfolio analysis, banking, quantitative methods, and economics support this program. This program is structured to encourage analytical thinking, creative problem solving, and strategic decision making. The MSF program offers curriculum with focused training in finance in the following specializations: Financial Policy, Financial Risk Strategy, and Real Estate.

The Ph.D. finance program is for students who are interested in a career that involves research in areas related to finance. Students completing the Ph.D. degree usually pursue positions at academic institutions and in business.
