2007-2008 College Entrepreneurial Educator
of the Year Award

Purpose

To recognize educational excellence in the instruction and cultivation of the entrepreneurs of the future and to showcase premiere entrepreneurship education for Alabama.

Eligibility

All Alabama educators of college undergraduate students (both 2-year and 4-year programs) who focus on entrepreneurship in their leadership and instruction of today’s college students are eligible for this award.  Nominations should document the contributions the educator has made to entrepreneurship education.  Nominees must adhere to all guidelines, and all materials must be submitted by all deadlines.

Award

The winning educator and three guests of his or her choosing will be invited to a banquet where he or she will be announced as the award winner and presented with an award at the Entrepreneurship Week Banquet, Thursday, February 28, 2008.

Criteria

  1. Effective involvement of business community in the design, implementation, and evaluation of entrepreneurial activities.
  2. Encouragement of students in the practice of entrepreneurship through creativity and innovation.
  3. The educator’s work is a model for others and has social and/or economic impact.
  4. Demonstrable outcomes of the educator’s work can be seen through students who apply an entrepreneurial spirit to their lives.
  5. The educator’s work has made a difference in the attitudes, self-esteem, behavior, values, and employment opportunities and outcomes of his or her students.
  6. The educator demonstrates distinguished leadership over several years within the field of entrepreneurship education while making significant advancements in the way others think about and approach entrepreneurship.

Process

Applications for the 2007-2008 awards are now being accepted from all eligible applicants.  The nominee may submit applications personally; or a third party may submit an application on the nominee’s behalf.

Submission Requirements

All nominations must include the following components:

  1. Application Form
  2. 1-2 Page Nominee Résumé

Optional

  • May submit additional 1-3 pages of supporting documents evidencing how the nominee meets the criteria and why he or she is deserving of the College Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year award.  Documents may include biographical sketches, syllabi, course materials, letters of recommendation, press releases, or other documents that help demonstrate the candidate’s entrepreneurial qualifications.
