Alabama is a state on the move. Her success is evidenced by record-breaking economic development achievement, low unemployment, growing economic diversification, rising per capita income, and more. But, like every state in America, the challenges facing Alabama remain many. Successful competition in the global economy requires visionary thinking, strategic planning and proactive problem solving.

That is why The University of Alabama's Culverhouse College of Commerce and The Business Council of Alabama are proud to present The 2008 Economic Summit for Alabama Leaders. Focusing on Alabama's role as a leader in the regional, national and global economies–this year's summit will examine the state of our state's economy and explore the foundations essential to our continued progress, even as the nation weathers challenging economic conditions.

This event, the first of a planned series of annual economic summits, is intended to bring together, inform, and solicit information and ideas from a cross-section of Alabama's leaders from the public and private sectors.

We hope you will join us in Birmingham on October 15 as we work together to move Alabama forward.
