Beta Alpha Psi Earns Superior Chapter Status
Beta Alpha Psi, the student accounting honorary society, had another extremely successful year. At the 2007 Annual Meeting, the Alpha Beta chapter was recognized as a Superior Chapter. This is the highest award level and is the fourth consecutive year that UA’s Alpha Beta chapter has been recognized with this award. To earn Superior Chapter, members had to accumulate over 2,500 hours of professional and service activities.
This year’s professional meetings included speakers from industry, public accounting and consulting firms. The chapter also sponsored and participated in a wide range of service activities, including tutoring introductory accounting students, proctoring exams, setting up the College Hall of Fame banquet, and organizing the School’s Honors banquet. Members also made presentations to local high school students introducing them to the accounting profession.
The current officers will be attending the Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California in August, where they again will be recognized as a Superior Chapter. Dr. Gary Taylor currently services as the faculty advisor. The chapter would like to extend its thanks to retired faculty advisor Dr. Kathleen Bindon for her many years of service.
